Part 11 – the value of defence

Goals change games. It’s an obvious thing to say but it’s an old football truism. Defenders don’t get as much credit as they deserve so hats off to Gilles Grimandi and Abou Diaby (again) for having such a full repertoire of defensive tricks.

An Arsenal fan has been in touch to point out that the Grimandi tackle shouldn’t be used because it happened in a friendly. This is just false modesty and the Gooner should be pleased that players are so committed to the Arsenal way they don’t care what sort of match it is. What a pro.
